Florida Building codes are taking new data and considering changing to accommodate climate change. Finally a discussion that make sense. I’ve been saying for years, exactly what the Florida building codes are proposing. Sea’s are rising about an inch every 10 years. So most of us that live into our 70’s will witness 7″ of rise in our lifetime if the current pace remains consistent. This is something we can manage.
Sea level rise is going to happen. It has been rising and falling since the beginning of earth. There are caves in the Gulf of Mexico with native Indian artifacts. They didn’t swim out and down and plant them. And there weren’t SUV’s burning fossil fuels then either.
Science has been recording temperatures since the 1800’s and they’ve been rising steadily the whole time.
So is it man made? DOES IT MATTER!!
Despite the current scientific explanation, we can’t stop something that has happened multiple times before we existed on the planet! We could spend hundreds of trillions of dollars, destroy economies and starve nations trying to stop it and still have climate change. However, we can build to accommodate the changes. AND we should do our part and help all we can, but we can’t stop it. And, certainly can’t reverse it, neither should we. Only slow it. Consider our 4 season’s. Think of all those plants that lose their leaves. If we tried to stop the seasons, we would completely destroy the entire eco system that requires, capitalizes and thrives on it.
For all the “End of the world” in 2000, then 2012, now in another 10 years, don’t count on it, at least not due to climate change.
